Abstract
The manual control system is felt not comparable with the current technological developments, the amount of time used for the operation of electrical and electronic control devices, plus remote control distance to inspire the author to apply smart home technology by utilizing the advancement of communication technology SMS Gateway that can simplify our work . This technology, consisting of equipment and electronic components that we often hear everyday. Mobile phone has a function as an instructor or a giver of commands, the modem has the function of receiving commands from the mobile phone then forward the command to the microcontroller. After that, the received command will be processed and continued to the relay by the microcontroller. The relay function is the same as the switch function that is as a breaker and electric current connectors, then the relay works based on commands from the microcontroller so that the lamp can be on / off according to instructions. Thus, applying Smart home technology by utilizing SMS Gateway, can control the on / off lights remotely.
