Abstract
:Indonesia as a developing country has the human resources potential. In the context of indigenous peoples, in truth, the nation had developed a way to survive by creating a system of values, lifestyles, the institutional and legal system in line with conditions local community. The experience of interacting closely with nature has provided in-depth knowledge for groups of indigenous peoples in the management of local resources.In a study entitled "The Meaning of Culture Memayu the Indigenous Community Empowerment in Keraton Kanoman Cirebon" The researchers used a qualitative methodology through semiotic approach by digging denotative, connotative, and myth. In collecting the data, researchers gather information through interviews with the triangulation of data as the primary data source that is used as a material for analysis is based on observations in the field. The results of this study found that the data in a sense of a cultural tradition "Memayu" contains denotative (real meaning) that “bebersih”. The term "Memayu" there is also a connotative meaning (meaning or a group of words that are based on feelings or thoughts that arise or incurred on the speaker and the listener, which is pretty or ayu. It is concluded that the term "Memayu" in mythology serves to express and justify for the values prevailing in the society that is the belief that is present in the ritual "Memayu" is.
