Abstract
Kelurahan Sukabangun dan Kebun Bunga is one of the typical wooden craft centers in Palembang . Crafts can be made become wood wardrobe , furniture , vases , jars , and so on. The problem for this industry is they are not able to work using a lathe mechine. Actualy the process is usually given to the others . So it takes additional time and expense that can affect the cost of production . The problem faced by the industry are ( 1 ) There is still a lack of knowledge regarding the use craftsman wood lathe , ( 2 ) They have not been many innovations of industrial products that use wood lathe , and ( 3 ) The amount of production costs to be incurred due to the process of turning the company still performed by way of sub- contract .This project targets and outcomes are, ( a) Increasing the understanding and knowledge of the Palembang industry wooden craft with wood lathe applications to improve manufacturing productivity , ( b ) Improving the skills to operate a lathe wood , ( c ) Shorten the time of production and stop the sub�contracting , ( c ) decrease operational costs , ( d ) Increasing the ability of the industry ( partners ) in developing a home business industry and ( e ) the results of these activities will also be published in the scientific journal of community service . Method approach will be made in science and technology activities for the community with the title of IbM industry Palembang wooden craft with wood lathe applications by training in both theory and practice . The results of this project is ( 1 ) Increased knowledge of the craftsmen and innovative craft products , ( 2 ) craftsmen understand how to use the lathe both in theory and practice , and ( 3 ) the dissemination of these skills is another who can not own a lathe
