Abstract

Abstract: The objective of this study was to develop the knowledge for student , especially the ability in writing narrative paragraph. The participants of study were 59 students who were taken from VIIclasses. The data was obtained by a test for measuring the story event and a test for writing narrative paragraph. The data from the test were analyzed by using independent sample test by using SPSS 17 program. From those data analysis above, it could be concluded that the imagine strategy and the ability in deciding story event gave the positive contribution to the students' ability in writing the narrative paragraph. Keywords: Imagine Strategy, the ability of Story Event, and the Ability of Writing Narrative Paragraph Abstrak: Pelajaran bahasa diperlukan untuk membantu siswa mengerti diri mereka sendiri, kultur mereka, dan kultur yang dimiliki oleh orang lain. Selain itu, pelajaran bahasa juga membantu siswa mampu mengemukakan ide dan perasaannya, berpartisipasi dalam lingkungan sosial, bahkan berpikir dan menggunakan analisis serta kemampuan imajinatif di dalam pikiran mereka.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan khususnya membantu siswa mengembangkan keterampilan menulis karangan narasi. Adapun sampel penelitian ini terdiri atas 59 orang dari kelas VII SMP. Hasil penelitian diperoleh dari tes menentukan story event dan tes menulis karangan narasi. Analisis data menggunakan independent sample test dengan menggunakan program SPSS 17. Berdasarkan hasil pengujian hipotesis terhadap penelitian yang telah dilakukan, diketahui bahwa penerapan strategi imagine dan kemampuan menentukan story event memberikan pengaruh positif terhadap kemampuan menulis karangan narasi siswa. Kata Kunci: Strategi Imagine, Kemampuan Story Event, dan Kemampuan Menulis Narasi.
