Abstract

Application of Model Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) in paragraph Argumentation Writing Skills Class X High School Muhammadiyah Palembang 5. This research is motivated by students who often face problems in writing, especially paragraphs argument. Difficulties experienced by students due to the difficult ideas in initiating the first sentence in writing. Also, the frequency of writing activities undertaken by the students is very low which leads to a lack of experience and knowledge of students in the writing. The problem in this study is the model that is applied to the CIRC are effective in learning to write paragraphs argumentation class X High School Muhammadiyah Palembang 5? The purpose in this study to describe the effectiveness of the model CIRC in learning to write paragraphs arguments in class X High School Muhammadiyah Palembang 5. The research method in this study is an experiment by using pretest and posttest control group. Population taken in this research that the whole class X High School Muhammadiyah Palembang 5, with a sample of 71 students. Obtaining data in this study obtained from tests conducted, and the data were analyzed with analysis of test data. Based on the description of the results of the study, it was concluded that the model CIRC is very significant to paragraph writing skills of argumentation. As being significant because it proved that "to" greater than "t table", at the 5% significance level. Based on student test results, after comparing the test results with the control class class test experimental results obtained that "to"> "TTable" ie 3.48 > 2.00 at the 5% significance level with db 69. Thus, the model CIRC effective argumentation skills in writing paragraphs class X High School Muhammadiyah Palembang 5
