Abstract
This research aims to determine the management of active dynamic archives at PT. Kereta Api Indonesia Regional Division III Palembang which includes creator of active archives, arrangement of active dynamic records, borrowing and reinvention of active dynamic archives, maintenance and security of active dynamic archives and shrinking of active dynamic records. This research uses descriptive research method. The data collection techniques used were interviews, observation, documentation and literature study. The results showed that the active records management procedure at PT. Kereta Api Indonesia Regional Division III Palembang has not been implemented optimally due to: 1) Creation of archives in managing incoming and outgoing mail has not been implemented properly; 2) Borrowing dynamic records has not used proper borrowing procedures; 3) Archive recovery still takes quite a long time, about 5 minutes; 4) Maintenance and security of dynamic records has not been implemented optimally. The obstacles faced in managing active dynamic records include: 1) Archival facilities in terms of quality and quantity are still lacking; 2) there is no archivist and limited ability and knowledge of employees about active dynamic records management; 3) maintenance and security of dynamic archives has not been implemented optimally.
