Abstract

This study aims to determine the composition of castor oil and pemanfa'atannya as a source of oil and fuel sources alternative.Dari survey results revealed that seed is very potential to be used as a source of oil, because the content in castor beans by 46%, the result of pressing cake minmyak also still be dimanfa'atkan as animal feed, oil cakes still contain protein and crude fiber are high enough heating process before the introduction of castor beans pengepressan can affect the yield and quality of castor oil produced. Heating using an oven at a temperature of 110oC for 30 minutes to give the oil yield by 25%, acid number 3.0 mg KOH / g, 90.5 mgr number Yod Yod / g, specific gravity 0.85 g / cc, refractive index 1.5 and the color of clear oil.
