Abstract
This study aims at benchmarking or comparisons SCM conducted SMEs in Palembang be an alternative to improve the performance and existence of SMEs in the economy of the city of Palembang in particular. Research was conducted on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in the city of Palembang by taking 12 SMEs using qualitative method design. By doing benchmarking, through in-depth interviews to informants, informants in this study are the managers of SMEs, ie either SME owner or someone who is trusted to manage these SMEs. Benchmarking process of SMEs in the city of Palembang, done by looking at the three types of businesses, namely; songket crafts, carving handicrafts and art crafts. The third type of business obtained that has a ratio that supply chain management to craft songket easier benchmarking it can be seen the development of the product is easy to vary, procurement of raw materials easily obtained even though there are some business owners do not enforce contracts to distributors but to obtain raw materials more easily than with wood-carving and art, as well as planning and control, product operations and shipping and distribution.
