Abstract

The changes of land use at the catchments area contributed significantly impact to the flood discharge. These phenomena has also happened in the Ogan Catchment area. The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of the land use changes on flood discharge. To calculate flood discharge, rational method was used. Data used in these research comprised rainfall data, data of land used and data of topography. The rainfall data used was daily rainfall recorded in Tanjung Raja Station. The daily rainfall wa transformed to hourly rainfall intensity using Mononobe method. The result of this study showed that the increace of the flood discharge that caused by the changes of land used, is approached with linier trend equation Y = a + b*X1 + c*X2 + d*X3. The variable of Y is the flood discharge. The variable of X1, X2, and X3 are paddy field area, farming lands area, housings area. The combination correlation coefficient is 0.99. Variable of a, b, c, and d are – 350.60, 33.63, -75.00, and 1.006. The partial correlation coefficient, RYX1 is 0.963, RYX2 = 0.977, and RYX3 = 0.983.. From the partial correlation coefficient, it shows that the most influential of land uses for the flood discharge is housing area, and farming lands. The next was paddy field.
