Abstract
The function of implementation of the language will be success if it is used by the competent person, ux-exception by the radio broadcaster. In this research, it studies about the function of language, according to Larry L.Barker stated that, it has three functions; naming, interaction and transmition. The research conducted in Sriwijaya Radio which as ethnic radio to know how significant the broadcaster implement the function of language, verbal and nonverbal communication. Facts obtained by conducting interviews and observations in which the data werw analyzed using qualitative descriptive methods. Indicators related to the broadcasters and the public about broadcasters an listeners. From the results of the research found that the application of language function, verbal and nonverbal communication is running optimally and it is expected that language functions are implemented well enough to get the optimum results.
