Abstract

Based on field observations and data for vertical jumping est of male volleyball player in Bina Darma University, its shows many malle volleyball pallyers have low ability on verical jump. This research is purposed to reveal the effects of plyometric training and performance motivation on verical jumping ability improvement of male volleyball player at Bina Darma University.The type of this research is Quasy Experiment. Population in this research is male student of Sport and Hygiene Study Program Bina Darma University whos entering voleyball extracurricular that is amounted to 84 persons. Samples in this research are amounted to 44 persons after divided into two groups, which are high achivement motivation category (27%) and lower achivement motivation category (27%). Instrument in this research is vertical leap test. Data were analyzed by two-path varians analysis.Result from the analysis indicating: (1) there is disparity between vertical jumping ability for group with plyometric training method and weigth training method (Qh= 3.11> Qt = 2.29), (2) there is an interaction between training methods and achivement motivation on vertical jumping ability (Fhitung = 41.33> Ftabel = 4.05), (3) in high achivement motivation category, groups with plyometric training method have higher result than groups with weigth training method (Qh= 8.63 > Qt = 3.77), and (4) in lower achivement motivation category, groups with weight training have higher result than groups with plyometric training method (Qh= 4.23 > Qt = 3.77).
