Abstract

This study discusses the influence the attitudes and motivation to learn the language to achievement in subjects Indonesian and English Junior High School (SMP) in Palembang. This is motivated by the value of the results of the national exams SMP throughout the city of Palembang from year to years shows that the Indonesian average score lower than the average score of the value of the subjects in English. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative method. Population in this research is the students of SMP Negeri in the area opposite the Ulu Palembang, totaling 13 SMP, the sampling technique in this study is a simple random sample, so elected SMP 7, SMP 15, and SMPN 16. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that the attitude and motivation of students to learn the language has no effect on achievement in subjects Indonesian.
