Abstract

Educating street children in order to have the entrepreneurial spirit is part of the solution in addressing its existence. In order to achieve this, street children should have the properties and behavior, which can be trusted; hard work and comprehensive knowledge , which makes it can be expected . The general objective of this first study: generating a model entrepreneur community among streetchildren in accordance with the needs and conditions of the cooperation between the community colleges, and government stakeholders. Both embody the nature and behavior are not independent to be a burden to others. The study design was a multiple case study. Methods of data collection using a combination of approaches ( triangulat which include : surveys , observation , field study , FGD ( focus group discussions ) , PRA ( Participatory rural appraisals ) and action research . Results showed the majority of street children in the city of Palembang born of community economic downturn the bottom layer, they become street children due to the low socio-economic conditions of the family and his efforts to use the money to support their families and personal needs such as playing online games at Internet cafes. Activities undertaken by the street children are singing on the bus, begging, hawkers (selling newspapers, food and soft drinks). Empowerment families of street children, especially in terms of economy, education and religion, are assumed to be the main base and effective model for handling and empowerment of street children. Through mentoring models involving family can accelerate the growth of the entrepreneurial spirit for children streets
